The Story of Bonnie Blue Eye

On a hot July morning in 2010 three puppies showed up in our pasture. They were very small and very hungry. At that time, it was common for dogs to be dumped along the side of the road. We assume that is how Bonnie and her two sisters happened upon our place. Her sisters were given loving homes and Bonnie has been with us since that day. She has a quiet demeanor, crosses her legs like a lady and has one striking blue eye and one honey colored brown eye. Bonnie is starting to lose her hearing but still enjoys our walks, patrolling our land first thing in the morning and naps on the porch. She is my once in a lifetime dog who means the world to me. So much so, that she is the namesake of this business!

Meet the Artist

Holly Tittel, Bonnie Blue Eye Owner

Each piece of Bonnie Blue Eye is handmade by me on our 80 acres in southern Colorado at the foothills of the Greenhorn Mountain. This area of the west is where both my husband and I were born and raised and where we have chosen to raise our two boys. The land and the people are very dear to our hearts and where I draw a great deal of inspiration for design.

Colorado is very giving with color and gasping landscape, as well as dramatic weather. It’s very easy to get lost in the beauty of Colorado. It’s a true blessing to have grown-up in the mountains and be given the gift of the lifestyle the mountains provide.

I am a typical Coloradan who has spent her life skiing, hiking and riding horses. Besides jewelry design, I also find great joy in gardening, baking, hunting out vintage turquoise and traveling. I’m also known to never pass up Mexican food or music.

Bonnie Blue Eye was born in 2019 while I was going through chemo for Lymphoma. I needed something to take my mind off the reality of cancer and chemo. Beads and design are something I have always enjoyed even as a child. This time around as an adult working with natural stone and wooden beads became a therapeutic and cathartic daily focus of mine. I am now in cancer remission and Bonnie Blue Eye has grown from a distraction to a love.

Making one-of-a-kind pieces for you brings so much happiness and joy into my life. Thank you for being here. I appreciate you!

With Love,

Holly

Turquoise

An eye-catching mix of bright blue sky and earthy green hues, like a refreshing lake nestled in the mountains. It’s nature’s own blend of colors for a relaxed and stylish vibe.

Chrysoprase

Picture a slice of luscious green apple or the fresh leaves of spring. This stone is all about that vibrant green shade that brings a touch of nature’s rejuvenating energy to your jewelry game.

Channel the vast starry Colorado night sky with sapphire stones. This stone has long been seen as a symbol of the heavens, a guardian of innocence, a bestower of truth and a promoter of good health.

Labradorite

The iridescent flashes of blue, green and gold in the aurora borealis is a rare treat to see across the Colorado skies. Labradorite is like a cosmic beauty you can wear, making your jewelry come alive with its mysterious and enchanting glimmers.

Natural Wooden Beads

Includes favorites such as sandalwood. These bits of nature are the epitome of earthy and relaxed charm. The warm, smooth pieces of wood create a sense of peace and serenity when worn.
